1 John 2

1 John 2

1My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for[a] the sins of the whole world.

Someone asked on facebook the other day "What defines a Christian"? Tough question in today's world.
But man, does 1 John 2 give the answer! Powerful stuff...LIVE LIKE CHRIST DID! That's the definition of a Christian...wow- we all are striving then!

I love this verse about Christ being our advocate before God. After my short Jury duty event, I have a new found respect of our judicial system...and also a fear of it- because there are corrupt Lawyers who only desire to defend the one who is paying them...and I suppose that's their job, but when justice isn't served, that's frustrating.

But, Christ, is the perfect lawyer (ha...I hear a joke coming on.) No seriously, he waits for us to sin, and when God is ready to say "Ok, that's it...time to let this girl seriously face the consequence of her choices" Christ steps in and is our greatest defendant. I imagine him saying, "But Father, remember how I died for her? She is my child...look at me and view her though me." WOW! NOW THAT IS POWER! So thankful to have a full understanding of the cross!
